Welcome to the Husky Health Center!

  • You're invited to the Grand Opening Feb. 21!

Ritenour School District is excited to announce the new Husky Health Center will open on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019 in the north wing at Hoech Middle School to serve the pediatric medical and behavioral health needs of enrolled Ritenour students in grades PreK-12.

CareSTL Health will provide services for Ritenour students during the school day Mondays through Fridays.

“Opening a school-based health center is one more way we can serve the growing needs of our students,” said Superintendent Dr. Chris Kilbride. “Making it more convenient for them to receive the quality care they need to manage chronic conditions and improve their health will help optimize their learning. We are excited that CareSTL Health will make these services possible.”

The Husky Health Center will allow students to access health services – including pediatric medical care and behavioral health services– during school hours. Services include chronic disease management for asthma and diabetes, wellness exams, immunizations, annual and sports physicals, nutrition guidance and referrals for other medical services at the new center. CareSTL Health staff who will see patients are licensed pediatrician, nurse practitioner, registered medical assistant and a behavioral health consultant who is trained in diagnosing mental health issues and provide counseling.

A district minivan will transport students to and from school to the Husky Health Center, according to a set schedule. Parents and guardians also can take their children to the center during early morning walk-in hours. They also may accompany their child at their appointment during the school day.

CareSTL Health will seek payment for services from the patient’s medical insurance payer source. However, no patient will be turned away because of an inability to pay. No payments are requested at the time of service from students.

A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house is planned for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21.

CareSTL Health also offers school-based health care centers in three other St. Louis area districts.
