Ruth Bell Greco
Mrs. Greco was elected to the Board of Education in 1996. A lifelong resident of the Ritenour School District, she is employed as the supervisor of Management Support for the Defense Contract Management Agency. She is serving her seventh term on the Board and has also served as president (1999-2002) and vice president (1998).
During Mrs. Greco’s tenure, the Ritenour Board of Education has been selected for the prestigious MSBA Education Leadership Team Award four times (2001, 2005, 2006, 2007). The award is given to school boards that serve as statewide or regional leaders, are committed to professional development, participate in advocacy for public schools, and implement successful education policies.
In addition to her role on the Board of Education, Mrs. Greco has served as a PTO president and treasurer at Ritenour Middle School; served as co-chair for six years for Operation Graduation—substance-free party for Ritenour High School graduates; was a member of CASE (Community And Schools for Excellence—a School Board program for which Ritenour received national recognition in 2004); member of Ritenour Athletic Booster Club; and founder and coordinator of the annual RHS Black and Orange Day.
Mrs. Greco is also a board member of Sonlight, a non-profit organization that provides classes and training for adult anger management and parenting in the community and the president of the David and Laura Bell Scholarship fund, which annually awards a scholarship to a Ritenour graduating senior and a Truman University nursing student.
A 1973 graduate of Ritenour High School, Mrs. Greco earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo.
Mrs. Greco is married to Michael (a Ritenour graduate) and has four children – Vincent (2000 Ritenour graduate), Lauren (2002 Ritenour graduate), Alison (2005 Ritenour graduate) and Jacqueline (2006 Ritenour graduate).
Mrs. Greco’s term expires in April 2020.
