Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Students will follow their home school morning procedures for eating breakfast and reporting to their classrooms. Classroom teachers will take attendance for those students attending the Center for Gifted Education.
Gifted students who arrive at their home school after the bus departs for the Center for Gifted Education will remain at their home school that day. This will be counted as an unexcused absence for the student at the Center for Gifted Education.
Parents may also drop their children directly off at the Ritenour Center for Gifted Education in the mornings. Students should arrive at the center between 9:00 a.m.and 9:10 a.m. Arrangements for walkers and car riders must be made with Dr. Dragoni prior to the first day of school.
Students will enter through the doors of the Ritenour Center for Gifted Education located in the back of Ritenour Middle School. Students arriving by car should be walked to the Center for Gifted Education’s entrance. No elementary students should be dropped off at the front of Ritenour Middle School, nor
should they enter through the building’s front entrance.
Students returning by bus to their home schools will do so according to the above schedule.
Upon arrival at their home school, students should first check in at their office and then return to their classrooms where they will be given copies of any materials distributed to their classmates.
Parents picking up students at the Center for Gifted Education must do so between 1:45 and 2 p.m. There is no before or after care provided at the Center for Gifted Education.
Any parent who opts to pick up a student who rode the bus in the morning must notify both the Center for Gifted Education as well as their home elementary school. Notifications must happen before 1 p.m. Arrangements for walkers and car riders must be made with Dr. Dragoni prior to the first day of school.
Medications & Health Services
Students who require medications or medical care from the school nurse must provide copies of medical orders and medications to the Ritenour Middle School nurse prior to the first day of school. Should a student’s medical needs change during the school year, the nurse must be notified in writing
prior to the next time the student will attend the Center for Gifted Education. The school nurse is the only person authorized to administer medication, and will keep all medications in her office.
