8th Grade Vaccine Requirements
Dear Parents of Ritenour Seventh-Graders,
It is important to know that your current seventh-grader is required to have two important vaccines – Tdap and MCV (meningococcal) – before he/she starts school as an eighth-grader. Our Husky Health Center (HHC), located in the north wing of Hoech Middle School, provides school-required vaccines with no out-of-pocket cost for your child and can provide the vaccines to your child during the school day. Ritenour provides the transportation for students from his/her school at no charge.
Students whose records show they need the vaccines and have consent for HHC to give the vaccines will be scheduled with an appointment to have this completed sometime from early February through May. You will receive a confirmation call from Husky Health Center prior to your student’s appointment time. You do not need to be present for the vaccines to be given to your child. If you would rather take your child to your pediatrician or another provider to receive the vaccines and do not want the Husky Health Center to give your child these vaccines, please contact HHC at (314) 493-6218
If you want your child to receive the vaccines at HHC at no expense to you and have not yet signed a consent form, you can download the form from the district website by clicking here or contact your school nurse.
Husky Health Center is staffed by nurse practitioners who provide comprehensive pediatric care, and is available to all Ritenour students. The center also provides behavioral health services for our students. There are no out-of-pocket costs for these services.
If you have questions about school-required vaccines or other concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s school nurse or the Husky Health Center.
