Aug. 3 SSD Letter to Parents

  • August 3, 2020

Dear students and families in partner districts,

A few weeks ago, many school districts in St. Louis County announced reopening plans as conditions stood that day and with the caveat that plans were subject to change. With the County Executive’s announcement last week of the growing spread of COVID-19 in the community as well as the new directives he issued that went in effect on Friday, many districts, including SSD, have revised their reopening plans for the 2020-21 school year.

I’m writing to let you know that SSD continues to work closely with each partner district on its reopening and will continue to follow the educational model and plans put in place by that district.

Many districts have now chosen to start the year with 100% distance learning for all students. Information about what SSD services will look like in partner districts, as well as resources for distance learning are available on the Return-to-School Guidance page on the SSD website.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and your flexibility as we start the new school year in collaboration with your district.

    Take care and stay safe.

    Elizabeth Keenan, Ph.D.
    Superintendent
Special School District of St. Louis County
