1st Grade Classrooms
Hi! My name is Kristina Erby-Carr and this is my fifth year teaching 1st grade at Marion. I have previously taught kindergarten, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and I was a literacy coach before joining Ritenour School District. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading a good book and spending time with my family. My husband and I have four children, one granddaughter and an 11 year old Yorkie. Although this will be a year of many changes, I am looking forward to all the exploring, learning, and fun we will get to have.
Hi! My name is Amy Germain, and I teach 1st grade. This is my 22nd year teaching at Marion and my 8th year in 1st grade. I am married and have two daughters. I enjoy taking walks, reading books, and playing cards with my family. This year, with my daughters I reread all the Harry Potter books. I am excited to get back to Marion and start another great year.
Hello! My name is Yasmein Mousa and this is my first year teaching. I recently graduated from school and I am excited to start my teaching career in first grade. Some of you may remember me from kindergarten when I was learning to be a teacher, and now we get to be together again during first grade! Outside of school, I enjoy listening to music, spending time with the people that I love, and being outside. I am excited for all of the learning that we will be doing!
Hi! My name is Michelle Sagakhaneh. This is my 35th year of teaching. I taught in Colorado and Washington State before moving to Missouri. This is my 19th year at Marion. My husband, Mo and I own Subway Sandwich and Salad shops. Our son, Amir recently bought his own house and is getting married in 2021. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling and spending time with family. I love teaching first grade, but just like you it will be my first time starting the year virtually. Just remember, Together We Can make this year a successful one!
My name is Tammy Schmitz. I’ve taught kindergarten for 14 years and this will be my second year in first grade. I adopted my daughter from India 25 years ago, she is now 28 years old. I enjoy the outdoors, photography, science, and teaching. A good education is one thing that can never be taken away from someone. This year will be unlike previous years, but I believe if we work together your child will be successful. Communication plays a big role in success so please never hesitate to contact me for questions and/or concerns. I am looking forward to this year. Together We Can!
