Lauren Dorris
dorrisl@ritenourschools.orgMy name is Mrs. Dorris and I will be your 3rd grade teacher here at Marvin. I know this year is going to be different and have a huge learning curve but we will do great things! A little bit about me first. I am a fourth generation Ritenour Graduate and live in the district. I have taught here at Marvin for 12 years. I have been married to Ernie Dorris for almost 10 years, we have a lab/shepherd mix dog named Jake, and we are expecting our first baby boy Sept. 30th. We have waited on our IVF baby for almost 10 years and are super excited to meet him in about 4-6 weeks. So that being said I will start the year with you but a long term sub will be filling my spot shortly after. But don’t worry I will make sure you are all set up for success and I am still accessible if needed. I am also working on wrapping up my masters in administration and am very involved in my committees here at school.
L'Tanya Freeman
freemanl@ritenourschools.orgMy name is Dr. L’Tanya Freeman and this year I teach 3rd grade. I have been teaching for 14 years (6year at Marvin). Over my teaching career I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. I even spent some time teaching 6th,7th and 8th English Language Arts at a private school before returning to my passion, working with elementary aged children. In 2018 I graduated with a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership but have chosen to remain in the classroom because interacting with young learners and seeing their growth brings me so much joy!
Dion Johnson
johnsondi@ritenourschools.orgHello, My name is Mr. Dion Johnson and I’ll be your 3rd grade classroom teacher at Marvin Elementary School for this unprecedented, yet exciting school year. I spent all of my childhood in the Walnut Park neighborhood so I am familiar with the vital role education plays in the community. While on this twenty-two year journey, my education and experiences includes a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master Of Arts in Education Administration with certifications in Missouri and Illinois. I've taught all elementary grades from 1st- 5th. I’ve also worked as a substitute teacher, teacher’s assistant and a classroom teacher. In addition, I am a United States Army combat veteran. Therefore, I understand the importance of hard work, dedication and a commitment to excellence and how it impacts our children. It is for these reasons that I have chosen education as my life’s profession.
Debbie Meis
meisd@ritenourschools.orgHi! My name is Debbie Meis and I have been a part of the Marvin family for 18 years. I am the mom of three girls, Abby (16), Alexa (14), and Ella (10) and my favorite dog, Zoe! I have taught 3rd and 5th grades and spent some of my years working part-time as a classroom teacher, interventionist assistant, and EL assistant teacher when my girls were younger. I love spending time with my family and friends, practicing random acts of kindness, and taking in a beach vacation when I can. Although our year will start off differently than usual, I am looking forward to bonding with my students, building our classroom community, and teaching lots of fun new concepts to my class!
