The Ritenour School District’s Husky Academy is a new space that serves at-risk youth in grades 5-12 in a non-traditional school setting. The Husky Academy is located in the former Analytics Building in Overland on Lackland Road next to the Overland Community Center. Formerly, the alternative programs were located in the north wing of Hoech Middle School.
The transition to Husky Academy brings a number of benefits to the Ritenour community. The new building contains all Ritenour alternative education programs, including the ACE Learning program, which was previously located in its own building off campus. Husky Academy is in a central location to the Ritenour community, and with 110 available spots for students, it has the capacity to serve additional students than in previous years.
The goal of Husky Academy is to increase graduation rates, increase attendance levels and improve academic performance of non-traditional learners. The programs available through Husky Academy give students several options to help them stay on track to graduate with their class. At Ritenour High School, programs like Freshman FUTURES Academy and Credit Recovery also will support students who meet a wide variety of criteria for alternate programming.
