Overview of Virtual Learning in Ritenour

August 10, 2020

Dear Ritenour Families,

We are happy to share an overview of what virtual learning will look like each school day beginning Aug. 24 while the district is in Phase 3 of the Return to Learning Plan.  (UPDATE: The first day of school has been delayed until Aug. 31 Learn more here.) Our teachers will be providing virtual instruction from their school building classrooms during each school day. As we have mentioned earlier, virtual learning will include synchronous learning (live, real-time instruction with the teacher and interaction with peers) and asynchronous learning (which allows students to do work on their own).

  • Please view this video that provides an overview:

It will be important to have students check in with their classes every day, and interact with their teachers, peers and classroom activities and discussions as much as possible. Teachers will be taking attendance in the virtual environment.  If your child is absent for any reason, please contact their school.  We are committed to reaching every student virtually.  Any student with multiple unreported absences will be visited by a school wellness team, which will consist of school counselors, social workers, administrators, support staff and interventionists.

This will help ensure not only academic success, but also important social-emotional supports for your child(ren). All lessons will be recorded to view by parents and guardians, as well as students, at a later time.

We will notify you of our technology rollout dates as soon as they are finalized. We appreciate your patience as we forge ahead in a new way to reach and teach Every Student, Every Day!
