Students Enjoy Competition at 2023 Elementary Track Meet
More than 200 students from Ritenour’s six elementary schools had perfect weather to compete in the Ritenour School District Track Meet on April 13.
As the stands filled with families, teachers and classmates, the young athletes got their first chance to compete on the high school’s Moore Field. The annual meet has been a tradition for approximately 30 years but was interrupted for the last three years due to the pandemic.
The meet opened with the 50-meter dash, high jump and long jump events, and ended with the traditional 4x400 relay. Students had been practicing in different events during their PE classes during the last few weeks.
“The annual elementary track meet gives our younger students a taste of what it’s like to compete on the field of their future high school,” said Ritenour High School Athletic Director Drew Lohnes. “It’s great to see how excited they are to compete and to witness the sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship among the students.”
