Channel 5 to Broadcast Live from Ritenour High School from 5-7 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 26

We are excited to announce that KSDK-TV (Channel 5) is visiting Ritenour High School (RHS) on Friday, Aug. 26 for a “Pep Rally” segment during the morning newscast.

They are helping us celebrate the successful start of the school year, the kickoff of fall sports, and the Huskies home opening football game against the Pattonville Pirates – “The Rock Road Rivalry”.

News anchors Rene Knott and Michelle Li will be bringing the Today in St. Louis program to Moore Field on the RHS campus from 5-7 a.m.  They will be conducting live interviews with administrators, coaches and students during the broadcast.  If there is rain or inclement weather, the pep rally will be moved to the Costilow Fieldhouse Gymnasium.

It will be an exciting, festive atmosphere and we encourage all of our students, staff and families to join us for some early morning fun with Ritenour athletes, coaches, cheerleaders, Rhythmettes and band members!  If you can’t be there, be sure to tune into Channel 5 between 5-7 a.m.

The live broadcast begins an exciting weekend in the Ritenour School District:

  • RHS is hosting an “Orange and Black Welcome Back” from 7:30-8 a.m. on Friday. It is a mini Pep-Rally that will be performed outside as students come into school for the day.  Students and staff are encouraged to wear their Orange and Black for the special spirit day and to the game.

  • The kickoff for the Rock Road Rivalry football game against Pattonville is at 6 p.m. at Moore Field on Friday night.  At halftime of the football game, the RHS athletic department will be retiring the jersey of Wendell Bryant.  A 1998 RHS graduate, Bryant played three seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Arizona Cardinals.  He was the 12th overall draft pick in the 2002 NFL draft after a standout career at the University of Wisconsin, where he ranks fifth all-time in career sacks. The orange Alumni tent will be out and located down the lower drive by the concession stand on the west end of the field (scoreboard side).

  • On Saturday, Aug. 27, the entire Ritenour School District community is invited to the annual Black & Orange Back to School Bash.  The event takes place from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Ritenour High School.  Fun and free activities are available for families throughout the event.  There will be kid-friendly activities, food and game booths, performances by the Ritenour High School Marching Band and much more!  Click here to learn more…

We hope you can join us for one or all of these exciting events this weekend!  Go Huskies!
