Important Information Regarding Middle School Student Schedules
Hoech and Ritenour Middle School Families,
Although student schedules are available for parents and students to view in SIS shortly before school begins, including on Transition Day on Aug. 17, it is important to know that schedules may not be finalized for all students until the first day of school or shortly thereafter.
We ask for your patience and understanding if you notice incomplete or changing schedules for your child, as our counselors are working hard to ensure any irregularities are worked out and classes are balanced.
We also encourage families who are new to their school due to redistricting or are new to the district to advocate for their child’s schedule to ensure that specialized classes are included that the student has previously qualified for in their former school and requested to continue. These specialized classes include Pre-Algebra 7, Algebra 1, advanced science, Project Challenge, band, orchestra, choir, and Spanish I. If your child had previously qualified for one or more of these specialized classes and it is not appearing on their schedule, please contact your child’s middle school counselor.
Counselors are also ensuring that students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs), 504 plans and other specialized needs are in the classes required by their plan.
Please know we cannot change a child’s schedule to be in another class or team unless one of the conditions previously shared above is missing from their schedule. Know our team is doing their very best to ensure that every student has a schedule that meets their needs while also balancing class sizes so our educators can provide the best possible instruction for their students.
We are excited to kick off the 2023-2024 school year strong for everyone!
