Timing of School Day Changes for Ritenour Students in 2020-2021 School Year

Beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, Ritenour School District students in grades K-12 will see a slight adjustment to the timing of the school day, but will attend school for six less days.  

The updated calendar increases the length of the school day by 10 minutes for students in grades K-12.  Students will now attend school 171 days, and teachers will have 181 working days. The state of Missouri no longer sets a minimum number of days for students to attend school.  The state now measures the school year in hours. Ritenour students will attend school for 1,097 hours next school year while teachers will have 1,388 working hours. The calendar was originally approved by the Board in December 2018.  It had to be updated due to a new state law passed in 2019 which prohibits local school districts from setting an opening date for the school year that is more than 14 calendar days prior to the first Monday in September (Labor Day).

Ritenour’s first day of school for all PreK-12 students for the 2020-2021 school year is on Monday, Aug. 24, 2020. With no inclement weather days, the last day of school is Friday, May 21, 2021. If the district uses all six weather days, the final day of school will be Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
