Ritenour Names New Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction
The Ritenour School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Denean Steward as the new assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction effective July 1, 2020. Dr. Steward replaces Dr. Mike LaChance, who will become Ritenour's assistant superintendent for human resources and leadership development.
Since 2013, Dr. Steward has served as principal at Marion Elementary School in Ritenour. She joined the district in 2009 as an assistant principal at Wyland Elementary. Prior to her role in Ritenour, she served 17 years as a classroom teacher, reading specialist and instructional coach in schools in the states of California and Maryland, as well as in the University City (Mo.) School District.
“Dr. Steward’s leadership in our district and her breadth and depth of knowledge in the area of curriculum and instruction will keep our district focused on improving student achievement at every level,” said Superintendent Dr. Chris Kilbride. “She has an absolute passion for student learning and finds ways for every child to be successful.”
Dr. Steward earned both her doctorate and master’s degrees from Maryville University in St. Louis and her undergraduate degree from California State University, Long Beach.
