Ritenour School District & CareSTL Health Celebrate Opening Husky Health Center on Feb. 21 for Ritenour Students
The Ritenour School District community is celebrating the grand opening of the Husky Health Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21. The ceremony will be held at the center, which is located in the north wing of Hoech Middle School, 3312 Ashby Road.
Families, staff and community leaders are welcome to tour the new school-based health center, which is operated by CareSTL Health, immediately following the ceremony, during an open house until 1 p.m.
The Husky Health Center officially opened Jan. 28 to serve the pediatric medical and behavioral health needs of enrolled Ritenour students in grades PreK-12. CareSTL Health provides services for Ritenour students during the school day Mondays through Fridays. Ritenour provides students transportation from their schools to the health center.
Ritenour Superintendent Dr. Chris Kilbride said the opening of the Husky Health Center will directly impact student learning.
“Opening a school-based health center for our students makes it more convenient for them to receive the quality care they need to manage chronic conditions and improve their health, which ultimately optimizes their learning potential,” said Kilbride.
The Husky Health Center will provide services that include chronic disease management for asthma and diabetes, wellness exams, immunizations, annual and sports physicals, nutrition guidance and referrals for other medical services.
CareSTL Health Chief Executive Officer Angela Clabon said, “We are beyond excited to provide much needed on site healthcare services to the students in the Ritenour School District.”
