Three Ritenour High School Students Selected for Full Scholarships to Pursue Construction and Engineering Degrees

Thanks to the commitment and philanthropy of community partners, Clayco and the Construction Career Development Initiative (CCDI), three outstanding Ritenour High School students are the recipients of the 2019 Build Our Future Scholarship, which will cover all educational and living expenses as they pursue degrees in engineering, construction management and architecture.

RHS seniors Divine Adelman, Brandon Fain and Geraldine Flores received the Build Our Future Scholarships to pursue their college degrees and enter related careers in construction and engineering. Clayco and CCDI will cover tuition, room, board and related expenses that are not covered by other grants or scholarships. Each of the three seniors is pursuing a different path for different degrees:

  • Adelman will begin his post-secondary studies at St. Charles Community college and finish a bachelor’s degree in construction management at Missouri State University. Jim Dearduff, project director at Clayco will be his mentor throughout his college career.
  • Brandon Fain is pursuing a bachelor’s in engineering by starting at St. Louis Community College and finishing his degree through the University of Missouri-St. Louis/Washington University Joint Engineering Program. He will be mentored by Larry Zelenovich, senior project manager PayneCrest Electric.
  • Geraldine Flores will begin her studies at a community college or Ranken Technical college and will finish a degree in architecture at a four-year university. Her mentor is Debbie Thomas, accounting manager at Clayco.

The CCDI program is a mentoring program that allows students to learn more about various construction careers through a variety of means to include job shadowing, hands- on learning and mentoring, said Cabrina Noonan, an RHS counselor.

“The CCDI program is truly making phenomenal strides to support our community and we are lucky that they have chosen to work with us,” said Noonan.
