Ritenour High School Hosts Third-Annual Military Career Fair
Ritenour High School (RHS) hosted its third annual military career fair on Nov. 14, 2019, giving students who are interested in enlisting in the military a chance to learn more about service to their country. Nearly 100 RHS seniors who have expressed interest in military service met with representatives from eight different branches – including the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard, Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy.
RHS Principal Jeff Marker said the military fair is in line with the school’s focus on the 3 E’s for graduates (enrollment in a post-secondary education institution, enlistment in the military or employment in a fulfilling career path).
“Students who pursue the military can be on a path to a high-quality career,” Marker noted. “Our military fair is another example of our work to provide as many opportunities as possible for Ritenour students to succeed in the classroom and in life.”
Earlier this year, RHS was notified that the school has moved up on the waiting list to receive a United States Army JROTC program. RHS started the application process in 2014 and has been waiting patiently for five years. The school hopes to begin the program in the next few years.
In addition to the military fair, RHS hosts many other opportunities for students to explore options for their future – including college fairs, job fairs and a construction trades expo. The goal is to give students an expanded view of all options available to them as they prepare to graduate from high school.
