Ritenour Hosting “Conversations about Race in a Safe Space” for Students, Families and Staff

The Ritenour School District will be hosting a series of virtual sessions titled “Conversations about Race in a Safe Space” for students, families and staff during summer break. The sessions will be designed to allow for a safe space for facilitated conversation to discuss the inequities and biases toward people of color in our schools and society. Learn more in this video by D'Corey Jordan, Ritenour Middle School student.

“Our role as educators is to create the opportunities for conversation and take the position of listening to the hurt, the anger, the confusion and the pain of our students, families and staff to promote change,” said Ritenour Superintendent Dr. Chris Kilbride.

The meetings are organized by Ritenour counselors, social workers and student leaders.  All meetings will take place in an online Zoom format and can be accessed on a computer or phone.  Participants are asked to RSVP and will be sent the login information via email for their session each week.
