Once again, the Ritenour School District received a clean audit by an outside audit firm after a thorough review of its financial records, accounting practices and compliance with state and federal requirements. Daniel Jones & Associates reviewed the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2020.
The auditor reported no findings or questioned costs. Derek Gokin, an auditor with Daniel Jones & Associates, told the Board of Education in December 2020 that after spending several weeks reviewing information from the district’s business department, all accounting practices and financial records and management complied with state and federal requirements. The board approved the audit at its December meeting.
The long history of the district receiving clean audits, coupled with 18 consecutive years of the district receiving the Meritorious Budget Award by the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International, reflects the district’s commitment to sound financial practices.
“It’s vital that we continue to be good stewards of the money that our taxpayers give us to keep our finances strong so we can focus on meeting our district’s mission and goals for students,” said Dwight Lindhorst, Ritenour’s chief financial officer. “This year’s pandemic and related CARES Act funds, coupled with our voter-approved $19.5 million Proposition S bond issue, are allowing us to meet the needs related to virtual learning and additional health and safety measures for our staff and students. We are pleased that an independent auditor has recognized our best practices.”
