Hybrid High School Students Return to Four Days of In-Person Learning March 8

February 17, 2021

Dear Ritenour High School, Husky Academy and International Welcome Center (IWC) Families,

In-person hybrid learning has been going well at Ritenour High School over the past four weeks.  Because more than half of the school’s students are learning virtually, many of the high school classrooms have as few as four seated students with the remainder of the class joining in virtually.

Recognizing that we have plenty of space for all of our in-person RHS, Husky Academy and IWC students to learn together with proper social distancing, we are excited to announce that we will welcome back our all RHS hybrid students for four days a week of in-person learning beginning Monday, March 8. Students will attend classes in the building at RHS, Husky Academy or the International Welcome Center Monday through Thursday beginning on that date. Fridays will remain a virtual day for all students in grades 9-12.

Beginning on March 8, students in grades 9-12 will be seated in person in classrooms according to the schedule below:

Monday - Periods 1, 3, 5 & 7
Tuesday - Periods 2, Advisory, 4 & 6
Wednesday - Periods 1, 3, 5 & 7
Thursday - Periods 2, Advisory, 4 & 6
Friday (all virtual) - All seven periods

Husky Academy and IWC students should follow their regular schedules.

Having all RHS students from both hybrid groups A and B together will still allow in-person class sizes to be small. We also can ensure proper social distancing in our hallways, cafeteria and other areas of RHS with all students who signed up for in-person learning.

Ritenour students in grades K-8 who are attending in person will remain on the A/B hybrid schedule and continue to attend classes two days per week. The change only affects our hybrid in-person students in grades 9-12 at RHS, Husky Academy and the International Welcome Center.  We can only make this change at the high school level because our classes sizes are so small in the hybrid format.  Currently, we do not have a timeline for when our K-8 students will transition to attending more days of in-person learning.

We are thrilled to welcome our RHS, Husky Academy and IWC students back to their buildings four days a week.  We thank you for your time and patience during this challenging and unprecedented school year.
