State Testing Slated for May 2-20, 2022 in Ritenour Schools

All Ritenour students (both in-person and virtual learning students) in grades 3-8 will be taking the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests May 9-20, 2022. High school students will be taking End-of-Course (EOC) exams May 2-20.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requires all students, including full-virtual learning students, to take the state-required tests in person. It is important to know that Ritenour does not have an opt-out process for the assessments.

Students who are in full virtual learning will take the tests in their home buildings. Building test coordinators are sending home important testing schedules to all families with virtual learners in grades 3-12.

Transportation will be provided for eligible virtual learning students, in addition to currently bused in-person students. Bus information will be provided to virtual learning students closer to the time of testing, as well as any changes to bus stop times for in-person students.

Students in grades 3-8 are taking tests in English language arts and math. Fifth- and eighth-graders also will take assessments in science.

EOC exams for high school students are in algebra I (including for eighth-graders who are enrolled in algebra I), English II, biology and government. Some students also will take an EOC in algebra 2. Graduating seniors, including Missouri Options students, who have not completed an EOC in these courses also must take them at the assigned time this spring.

The MAP and EOC exams gauge how well Ritenour students meet standards established by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

Parents can help ease test anxiety and help their children be prepared for the upcoming state tests by:

  • Avoiding doctor appointments and other absences during this time period.
  • Arriving at school on time each day; testing usually begins immediately after class starts.
  • Providing a nutritious breakfast or encouraging your child to eat a school breakfast.
  • Encouraging reasonable bedtimes to ensure a proper night’s sleep.
  • Expressing confidence in and encouraging him/her to do his/her best.
  • Ensuring their child brings their Chromebook to school fully charged on the day(s) of testing.
  • Giving plenty of hugs and support!

Thank you for partnering with us to help Ritenour students do their best on these important exams!
