Graduation for Ritenour High School’s class of 2021 will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 6 at the PowerPlex in Hazelwood.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, graduation was moved from Chaifetz Arena to the outdoor complex in Hazelwood. Graduating seniors will be seated as a class according to social distancing guidelines.
“We were committed to making sure our 2021 graduates had the opportunity for a safe way of celebrating this milestone in person,” said Ritenour High School Principal Dr. Jeff Marker. “We surveyed our seniors with a few options and the PowerPlex was their top choice. We are ecstatic that we can honor them with a meaningful and memorable in-person ceremony after an incredibly challenging two years.”
Each graduate will receive two parking passes for family and friends to watch the ceremony from their cars at the complex. The event will offer jumbo screens to see the graduates up close as they cross the stage to receive their diplomas, as well as to see the student speakers.
The event will be livestreamed for guests wanting to view the ceremony from home. Guests at the complex also will be able to listen to the ceremony on a local radio channel.
All 2021 graduates who plan to be part of the ceremony are required to attend a rehearsal 8-11 a.m. on Thursday, June 3 in the Costilow Fieldhouse, where they will receive their caps, gowns, honor cords, other graduation regalia and parking passes.
Graduates are encouraged to ride with family to the complex on graduation day. Those who choose to drive separately will need to park a distance from the entrance.
