Summer 2021 COVID-19 Mitigation Changes

May 24, 2021

Ritenour Families,

As we head into the summer, I wanted to make you aware our COVID-19 mitigation strategies, based on updated recommendations from the CDC and St. Louis County Department of Health that provide specific guidance for organizations/businesses (including schools) that serve a large number of children who are not eligible yet for the vaccine or have not attained the status of being fully vaccinated.

Summer mitigation practices in Ritenour, which cover summer school, are:

  • All staff and students, regardless of vaccination status, must continue wearing masks properly while in all Ritenour buildings.
  • Social distancing at a minimum of 3 feet will continue to be our practice. All interior school signage regarding social distancing will remain in place. Link to updated CDC Guidance
  • Daily temperature checks will not occur at school for students or athletes. Parents should monitor student health before sending students to summer school or athletic practice/camps. Teachers/coaches should refer students who appear ill to lead teachers and Ms. Schwer.
    • Ms. Schwer will provide additional guidance to Summer School staff.
  • The COVID-19 Dashboard will no longer be used after May 21,2021. Staff and students/parents will be notified, as part of contact tracing efforts, as needed.
    • Seating charts will be maintained in classrooms and elementary bus routes to assist with contact tracing.

As always, we appreciate all you do to keep our community healthy and safe.
