Talbott’s photo earned an honorable mention in the landscape category. She will be recognized alongside other St. Louis area high school photojournalists on opening night of the photo exhibit on May 12 at Grand Center on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus, 3651 Olive Street, St. Louis, MO 63108. The exhibit is open 7-9 p.m. and the awards ceremony begins at 7:30.

Talbott said although she is not in any journalism or yearbook classes, she thought it would be fun to enter the contest with a photo at a park near her home.

“I decided to try and maybe be recognized for the thing I like to do the most in this world,” said Talbott. “Everyday in the afternoon I like to go the park because the sky looks wonderful at that hour.”

Talbott added that she plans to pursue her passion with photography as a hobby.

“Photography might be one my hobbies in a couple of years even if I decide to be a doctor,” she said. “I plan to travel and show issues that happen around the world, as well as all of the good things.”
