As many RHS seniors are now receiving word on college acceptances and substantial scholarships that are worth celebrating, it’s important to know three seniors who had their decisions buttoned up earlier this year as part of the very competitive early decision process: Andy Vo and Enrique Castillo were both accepted early decision with full scholarships to Washington University; Evelyn Araiza Garcia received an early decision acceptance to New York University. Congratulations to these stellar scholars!
Congratulations to Ritenour High School’s student radio station KRHS-90.1 FM superstars, who won top honors in three categories at the 2023 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Trophy Awards Program in late February in New York City.

- Talia Jones - Best Public Service Announcement for "It's Just Another Day"
KRHS television and radio also earned finalist trophies for 14 other entries in this year’s highly competitive national broadcast competition.
"It is always great to see our students competing against some of the best in the nation,” said RHS broadcast teacher Jane Bannester. “You can count our name among that list of schools."
Congratulations to the members of the RHS Symphony Band for receiving “Outstanding” ratings for their prepared music and sight-reading at the MSHSAA State Music Festival, which was held on March 8 in the Ritenour High School Auditorium. The band is directed by Hadley Haux. 
Ritenour High School’s Student Leadership class continues its legacy of excellence with its 10th Missouri Gold Council Award from the Missouri Association of Student Councils (MASC) for its exemplary record of leadership, service and activities that improve the school and community. The 2023 award will be presented at the MASC State Convention on March 16.
Seniors Jayden Bock, Leyla Fouche and Kyle Williams also will be recognized at the convention as MASC Distinguished Leaders for their three-year commitment to Leadership, community service and their district-level presentation about Leadership’s March Madness Spirit Week, which focuses on building pride about living in the St. Louis region.
Leadership’s outstanding programs this year that earned them the Gold Council Award include:
- Fundraisers for the school’s Make-A-Wish child
- Organizing the homecoming parade
- A successful canned food drive for Ritenour Co-Care
- Veterans Appreciation gifts and lunch for staff members who served in the military
- You Don’t Know My Story (YDKMS) Campaign, which focuses on the awareness that every person has a different story that impacts how they move through daily life and being considerate of others. Money raised for YDKMS shirts are used for YDKMS Scholarships for one Ritenour senior each year.

- Kindness Week, Difference Makers awards and random acts of kindness to recognize staff
- Awareness Week to promote mental health
RHS Feature Baton Twirlers, Maggie Bannester, Gabrielle Sanders, and Colin Schuessler, represented Ritenour at the 2023 Missouri State Baton Twirling Competition.
The twirlers were winners in the High School Halftime division and placed third in the High School Dance Twirl category.
In the High School Solo Competition, RHS twirlers were able to sweep the top positions. Schuessler took second place, while Sanders captured third, and Bannester placed fourth. Schuessler and Sanders paired up to place first in the Duet division for their age group. These wins set the RHS team to compete at the Nationals in July.
