Seven Huskies Qualify for Track & Field State Championship
Seven Ritenour High School Huskies qualified to compete in eight events at the Class 5 Missouri State Boys Track & Field Championships May 26 and 27 in Jefferson City.
Nate Watson heads to the state championship after breaking the RHS record in the 400m race at 49.35 seconds for a first-place finish at the Class 5 District 2 Sectional Meet, which was held May 20 at Poplar Bluff High School.
Elijah Fry broke his own school record at Sectionals in the javelin, throwing at 145-03.25 and earning 4th place.
Other Huskies qualified for state in the following events by medaling at Sectionals:
* Derrick Smith, Tyson Robinson, Cornell Harris, Saraun Thomas in the 4x100m (third place)
* Shayne Bishop, Watson, Harris and Robinson in the 4x400m (first place)
* Harris, Robinson, Bishop and Watson in the 4x200m (third place)
* Robinson in the 300m hurdles (third place)
* Smith in the 100m dash (third place)
* Thomas in the 110m hurdles (fourth place)
Alternates heading to state are: Michael Miller, Cameron McCarty and Leon Mitchell-Williams
