Weddings Congratulations to Tavonda Palmer, RHS dropout prevention specialist and Student Leadership teacher, who got engaged to Stanley Harvey at midnight on Christmas in Orlando, Fla. They are planning an October 2020 wedding.
Kudos Sheneé McCoy and Megan Benjamin, Kratz fifth grade teachers, received the NEA Foundations Student Leaning Grant along. The $5,000 award will be used for technology initiatives in their classrooms.
Earlier this month, Sheneé McCoy was one of 10 regional Spotlight Educators who presented at the METC20 Conference in St. Charles. Her sessions focused on projects she has done with her students that focused on helping them become global ambassadors using technology applications, digital storytelling and podcasting.
John Schimmel, RHS English language arts teacher, finished his first marathon Dec. 7 with an injured knee in the St. Jude Marathon in Memphis, Tenn. For the marathon, he raised more than $3,000 for the LaLimye orphanage in Haiti, where he has volunteered for several years with children and started the Power for Haiti solar panel initiative.
