Mandi Barlage, adaptive physical education SSD teacher for Ritenour, got married on June 10 to Jeff Barlage, a firefighter with the Community Fire Protection District that serves Ritenour.
Rolanda Dodds-Piggs, office professional for the Curriculum & Instruction department at the Administrative Center, celebrated the marriage of her daughter, Reva Dodds (2011 RHS graduate) to Charles Marshall.
Kelsey Wright, Wyland Elementary art teacher, will be getting married to Philip Moll on Oct. 3.
Erica Whitley, lead nurse for Ritenour and Wyland Elementary, got engaged in July to Kirk Hill. They are planning a Nov. 14 wedding.
Babies
Alexander Terrance, a Ritenour Middle assistant principal, and wife Kristine celebrated the debut of August Gage Terrance on April 24. He weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. and was 20 inches long.
Rolanda Dodds-Piggs, office professional for the Curriculum & Instruction department at the Administrative Center, welcomed her seventh grandchild, Kandis Ann Marie Dodds, on March 30. Kandis weighed 7 lbs., 2 oz. and was 19 inches long. Proud parents are Ronald Dodds and Katrina Miller. Proud siblings are Kourtney Miller, 4, and Kameron Dodds, 2.
Bridget Linders, an Iveland Elementary special education teacher, and husband Will celebrated the birth of their first child, James Michael Linders, on March 20. He was born weighing 6 lbs. 6 oz. and was 19 inches long.
Kate McLaury, a Marion Elementary fourth-grade teacher, and husband Brad are proud parents of Madilyn Ann McLaury. She made her debut on June 2, weighing 7 lbs. 4 oz. and measuring 21.5 inches long.
Carrie Myers, an Iveland Elementary fifth-grade teacher, and husband Joe welcomed Finn Warren Myers into their family on June 29. He made his debut almost two weeks early weighing 8lbs 11 oz and measuring at 21 in. Sebastian, 2, loves being a big brother.
Ronald Pleas, Kratz Elementary lead custodian, became a grandfather for the first time on Aug. 11 when ZaNila Pleas made her debut and stole his heart.
Dr. Marquita Bowers-Brown, a social studies teacher at Hoech Middle School. and James Brown were blessed with Jameson Andreas Brown weighing in at 6lbs. and 15 oz. on July 28, 2020. Both parents are 2002 RHS graduates. Grandma, Mary Bowers (retired RHS history teacher), loves to spoil him.
Frederick Warren, Ritenour Middle eighth-grade science teacher, and wife Jessica celebrated the birth of Gwendolyn Gale Warren on May 5. Gwendolyn made her debut at 8 lbs. and was 22 inches long. She is receiving lots of love from her big brother, Tristan, age 2.
Kudos
Dr. Patricia M. Closson, Ritenour High School assistant principal, successfully defended her doctoral research in May and earned a doctorate in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University. COVID-19 cancelled her commencement and traditional regalia so she celebrated with other special attire. (see photo)
Evelyn Gilliam, coordinator of Professional Learning, is proud to share that her son, Langston Gilliam, received a blue ribbon in the Academy of Science Virtual Science Fair in May.
Kala Hulsey, Iveland Elementary/SSD teacher assistant, earned a master’s in business administration this past spring.
Ron Steinschriber, Ritenour High School journalism teacher, received his CJE (Certified Journalism Educator) status through the Journalism Education Association (JEA). It is essentially a national journalism teaching certification run through the organization.
