Weddings/Engagements:

Brittany (Furgeson) Brackman, an Iveland Elementary fifth grade teacher, married Andrew Furgeson, Dec. 29, 2020 in the presence of family on a beach in Florida.

Sierra Watson, a Ritenour Middle School English language arts teacher, recently became engaged to Daniel Ochekwu. They plan to exchange their vows in July.

Babies:

Dr. L'Tanya Freeman, a Marvin Elementary third grade teacher, welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world on Dec. 27 as Nesiah Freeman-Peters made her debut at 6lbs 2 oz.

Sandra Henfling, Hoech Middle School office professional, and husband Mike celebrated the birth of their first granddaughter, Oaklee Rose Williams, on Dec.15. Oaklee weighed 6lbs 11 oz. and was 19 inches long. Proud parents are Ashlee and Zach Williams.

Amy Metz, RHS English Language Learner teacher and 2004 RHS graduate, and her partner, Scott, celebrated the birth of their son on Jan. 20. August John Zumwalt made his debut at 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 21.5 inches long. Big sister Marley (4) is such a big helper and loves to attempt diaper changes.

Kudos:

Jessica Giesel, a Marion Elementary third grade teacher, finished her master’s in February from the American College of Education. Her master’s is in elementary education with a focus on literacy. She looks forward to the virtual commencement ceremony in July.

Shauna Real, a Kratz Elementary first grade teacher, is excited to share that as a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Omicron Eta Omega Chapter in the St. Louis area, she was recently honored to be the chapter’s nominee for the Outstanding Educator of the Year regional award. This award recognizes an educator who is a chapter member who goes above and beyond the expectations of a classroom instructor.

Shauna also shared that her son, Geordan Taylor, a senior at McCluer North High School, was accepted into the Kansas City Art Institute with a full scholarship.This university was his first choice! He will be pursuing a degree in animation and film directing.

Wendy Jackson, office professional in the Human Resources Department at the Administrative Center, is excited to share that her husband and his cousin are celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Collier Bros. Autobody. The company began with my husband's grandfather and great-uncle. A reporter for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch did a story about their success. Check out this link.

Keiza Taylor, a Marvin Elementary social-emotional behavior interventionist, recently earned her elementary teacher certification from Columbia College.
