Engagements/Weddings

Donna Butler, interim principal of the Ritenour School for Early Childhood Education, celebrated the marriage of her daughter, Erin, to Brian Simmons on April 16 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Emily Castello, an HMS physical education and health teacher and coach for the RHS girls JV soccer, was engaged this past Thanksgiving.  She and her fiance, Max Fehl, will be married Dec. 18, 2021.  Emily and Max met at Trinity Catholic High School, where they both attended and graduated together.  Emily's dad and mom, Kay Castello, a Ritenour parent educator with the Parents as Teachers program and retired Ritenour/SSD teacher from the Ritenour School for Early Childhood Education, helped Max with the surprise proposal during a family celebration. Kudos

Congratulations to Matt Berry, RMS counselor, who was selected for the national cadre of trainers the Dove Self-Esteem Project. He is one of 25 national trainers, who are located in every region of the United States. The Dove Self-Esteem Project provides lessons on body confidence and self-esteem for youth. As a national trainer for this project, Matt will promote this curriculum to other schools and districts to use in classrooms. One of my goals as a National Trainer is to promote this curriculum to others so they will begin to utilize it in their classrooms.

Congratulations to Laamar Cunningham, nurse at Marvin Elementary, who was honored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as the “CDC School Nurse Day Promotion 2021.”

A big shout out to Tina Nichols, a fourth grade teacher at Buder Elementary, and her husband, Scott, who celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on April 13. In dedicated parent fashion, they celebrated their big day by attending their son’s high school baseball game!
