Emily Castello, a Hoech Middle School physical education and health teacher, married Max Fehl on Dec. 18, 2021. Emily's proud mom is Kay Castello, a parent educator with the Ritenour School for Early Childhood’s Parents As Teachers program.  Emily says it was wonderful to be surrounded by family and that the wedding was a beautiful day to remember forever!

Kristen Dulle, a Marvin Elementary counselor, got engaged to Robert Plohr on Dec. 6. They are planning a wedding for January 2023.

Jill Hodges, a second grade teacher at Marion Elementary, celebrated the engagement of her youngest son, Marc Hodges, to Ella Thomas. They got engaged over Thanksgiving and are planning a Jan. 7, 2023 wedding in Cullman, AL where they both reside.

Alyson Schroeder, a Ritenour High School Spanish teacher, got engaged on Dec. 22 to Tom Flynn. They plan to have a St. Patrick’s Day wedding on March 17, 2023.

Jennifer Wilson, a Ritenour High School family and consumer science teacher, celebrated the engagement of her daughter, Alyssa, to Noah Keane in December.

Babies

Congratulations to Robyn McCaleb, an office professional at Kratz Elementary, who celebrated the birth of her ninth grandchild, Ari McCaleb, on Nov. 29. weighing 7 lbs. 4 oz.

In addition to celebrating the engagement of her daughter, Alyssa, Jennifer Wilson, welcomed her second grandson. Revan Joseph Knelange was born on Nov. 11. His proud parents are Dalton and Rachel Knelange of Phoenix, AZ. Jennifer’s first grandson, Leo Knelange, was born in August to Carter Knelange (an RHS graduate) and Eva Stanton.

Kudos

As one of five finalists for the National School Counselor of the Year, Husky Academy Interim Director Matt Berry is tapped regularly by national education-related publications, associations and media for his expertise on student mental health issues. Most recently, he was quoted in a Jan. 27 article in District Administration Magazine.

Congratulations to Emily Gabrisch, a fourth grade teacher at Buder Elementary, who recently became an International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) certified educator after completing a rigorous process. The certification focuses on pedagogy, designed to transform teaching practices and it is internationally recognized. “It was an extremely challenging but a rewarding experience that took some perseverance for sure,” says Emily.

Congratulations to Kelly Holloway, a business education teacher at RHS, who earned her Educational Specialist in Instructional Leadership degree on Dec. 10 from Lindenwood University.

Cathy Hudson, an SSD para at the Ritenour School for Early Childhood Education, is the proud grandmother of Parker Michele Hudson, who made the Straight A Honor Roll for the first two quarters of the school year. She is a third-grader at an elementary school in St. Louis Public Schools.

Valerie Stanfill, a teacher at the Ritenour School for Early Childhood Education, received a grant from Books for STL Kids that provided 493 new books for the school’s 207 students. After picking up the books on Jan. 21 and dividing them up for each class, every RSECE student got to take home at least two books to keep for their very own. RSECE teachers also had the opportunity to read some of these new books to their classes.
